Cannex & Fillex preview – Part 2

Our preview of this year’s Cannex & Fillex show continues with a look at some of the equipment, services, materials and technology that will be on display.

INX International Ink Co is the third largest ink supplier in North America and will be bringing two new developments to Cannex. The first is the INX two-piece metal colour catalogue, described as the industry’s first true colour standard for beverage can printing. The company’s aim is that by using the catalogue, designers and metal decorators can select, communicate and approve colours quickly and efficiently, thus reducing lead times and getting labels to market more quickly. Visitors to INX’s booth will have the opportunity to design and print their own cans using its colour catalogue, digital colour library and a CP100 UV digital cylindrical printer.

Jiangsu Hefeng Steel New Material Co will be promoting its TFS and lacquered TFS.

Jiangsu Suxun New Material Co supplies TFS as well as polyester coated steel products. At its booth, it will display its product catalogue along with product samples.

Canstock supplier Jiangsu Youfu Sheet Technology Co specialises in tinplate, tin-free steel, tin mill black plate (TMBP) and cold rolled coil. Its mill in Jiangsu Province houses an advanced 1,250mm-wide tin coating line and one of the first six-stand tandem rolling sets in China. Halfway through 2017, it began the construction of a new facility and is installing a new high-speed TFS line. This line, featuring a degreaser, batch annealing (BA) and temper rolling equipment will be ready for production by the end of 2018. Youfu Sheet Technology is also planning a third phase of construction, which will involve the installation of a continuous annealing (CA) line and another high-speed tin coating line.

Canstock supplier Jiangyin Comat Metal Products Co (Comat) operates both BA and CA production lines with an annual tinplate production output of 800,000 tonnes. Its products comply with both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality and environmental standards.

Jiangyin Ruixing Science and Technology Co will present a range of high-speed double-faced laminating machines and a line for co-extruding food-grade coatings.

Jieyang City Hualong EOE is an easy-open end manufacturer offering diameters from 52 mm to 153 mm in tinplate, aluminium or tin-free steel.

Jiujiang Xingda Can Machinery Co will highlight its expertise in automatic production lines for small rectangular cans. It will demonstrate its ZDF-4 automatic square can forming and flanging machine; ZDX-68 automatic feeding lid sealing machine; and an automatic small rectangular can production line that has a capacity for 25-30 cpm.

Also showing square, as well as round, canmaking machines at the show, will be Jiujiang Yixin Machinery Co. It will present equipment for making round cans in sizes from one to five litres, conical pails from 10 to 25 litres, square cans in sizes from one to five litres and 10 to 20 litres.

Jorson Packaging Machinery Co will be focusing on its side-stripe powder coating system, which has been fully developed to overcome technical problems frequently encountered with this type of equipment. The company also supplies spot powder coating and curing systems for pails, as well as turnkey product lines. It will be demonstrating a spot powder coating system, which is labour saving and, being water-based, avoids pollution problems.

KBA-MetalPrint, the subsidiary of German printing giant Koenig & Bauer, will be showcasing its highly-automated MetalStar 3 decorating press. It features the DriveTronic Sensoric infeed system and an automatic program-controlled changeover process for plates and blankets, which cuts downtime by half. KBA’s communications manager Ursula Bauer says Cannex offers a great opportunity to meet decision makers from the Asian canmaking industry, as well as providing a hub to discuss the latest developments in the market.

Significant weight savings in the manufacture of aluminium monobloc aerosol cans is one development being highlighted by Mall+Herlan, with its complete production lines for monobloc metal packaging, such as aerosol cans, bottles and tubes made from aluminium or steel using D&I technology. Mall+Herlan also supplies impact-extrusion presses, trimming and brushing machines, washers, transfer systems and ovens, multi-colour printing units, necking and shaping machines, together with tooling and services.

Neu (Shanghai) Air Technology Co will be showing a waste chopper and pneumatic handling system that takes waste from production to a centralised recycling point.

US-based Nidec Minster, a specialist in cupping presses, will be launching its new MPI-90 portal press capable of being configured to produce shells or cups for a wide variety of food and beverage packaging applications. General manager Greg Stueve said Nidec was looking forward to reconnecting with all of the company’s global partners at Cannex and being able to talk about new products, upgrades and retrofit packages available for existing equipment.

Leader in technology for the precise spraying of internal can coatings, Nordson (China) Co will present the wide range of equipment it supplies for spraying, together with its control and monitoring systems.
