Budweiser cans in US given patriotic makeover

Budweiser, the famous US beer brand from Anheuser-Busch InBev (A-B InBev), is being given a patriotic makeover with the launch of a new limited-edition can design.

From Memorial Day in the US on 25 June until Independence Day on 4 July, the collectable cans of Budweiser will be available in the red, white and blue colours of the American flag.

A portion of sales, including US$1 for each large pack sold, will be donated to the Folds of Honor charity to fund scholarships for military members and their families up to $75,000.

Folds of Honor provides support for the families of fallen US military personnel from the five branches of the US military and disabled service members.

To celebrate the Chinese New Year in January, Budweiser also unveiled a series of limited-edition impact extruded aluminium beer bottles made by canmaker CPMC.

Earlier this month A-B InBev reported that its first-quarter profits had been severely hit as the coronavirus pandemic forced the closure of bars, sports venues and restaurants, cutting off a significant source of sales for the world’s largest brewer. It revealed that beer volumes had collapsed by a third in April and expected the second quarter to be even worse.
