Carlsberg Group take over control of Greek brewery

Carlsberg Group has acquired the remaining 49 percent of the shares in the second biggest Greek brewery, Olympic, following the 2014 merger through which Carlsberg gained 51 percent.

Formed by the merger of Mythos and Olympic, the Olympic Brewery operates two breweries in the areas of Thessaloniki and Euboea and includes brands such as Mythos and Fix.

Carlsberg chief executive Cees ’t Hart said: “Olympic Brewery is a historic Greek company and a very strong player in the Greek market. It is thus a positive and logical next step that we announce today, strengthening our presence in Southern Europe.”

Olympic Brewery employs more than 450 people in Greece and has established a network of 90,000 outlets, including 2,000 partners and suppliers.
