Dates announced for Cannex 2021 in China

The next Cannex & Fillex Asia Pacific – the World Canmaking Congress is set to take place over four days from 9-12 June 2021.

China’s southern boom city of Guangzhou will be welcoming the return of Cannex & Fillex in 2021, after the show became the biggest-ever canmaking event in Asia during its previous visit in 2018.

The forthcoming show is expected to be even larger, with thousands of delegates keen to make or re-establish valuable business contacts. All will be drawn to the hundreds of companies from around the world, who will be showcasing the latest equipment, materials and services.

News of the 2021 event comes as the Chinese metal packaging industry goes from strength to strength, with canmakers and fillers opening new plants, expanding operations and launching new products into this fast-growing market. Among recent developments, ORG Technology has acquired Ball’s four Chinese beverage can plants and Baosteel Packaging is to expand beverage can production at its Harbin factory.

On the filling front, Carlsberg has opened a craft beer centre to tap into surging demand for alcoholic beverages, while Jiamei Food Packaging, which provides services for major local brands including Wanglaoji and Yangyuan Beverage, says that it will open three new lines. Significantly, Anheuser-Busch InBev has spun off part of its Asian business into a separate company to better meet growing demand in China.

The four-day show will be held at the Pazhou Complex, a state-of-the-art facility on the banks of the Pearl River. It will be the fifth time that Guangzhou has hosted Cannex & Fillex Asia Pacific since 2009.
