Thai Union donates seafood to tackle pandemic

Thai Union Group, the Bangkok-based canned seafood producer, has donated THB 1 million (US$30,637) in tuna and other products to help the Thai government’s medical staff who are dealing with the Covid-19 outbreak.

The canner of seafood brands such as John West, Petit Navire and Chicken of the Sea, provided a range of food items, which included more than 25,000 cans of tuna, sardines and mackerel as well as 8,000 packs of FISHO snacks, to the Ministry of Public Health.

These will be distributed at hospitals and other support units currently working to manage the pandemic.

In February a subsidiary of Thai Union Group, Thai Union China, donated more than 52,000 cans of King Oscar tuna to the city of Wuhan to assist with the impact of the coronavirus. This was provided through a local logistics service and an online food delivery operator in the country.
