The Canmaker Summit 2021, which was due to take place in Prague, Czech Republic in October, has been postponed due to ongoing concerns around travel restrictions.
The annual event is a fixture of the canmaking industry and attracts delegates from across the world to network, listen to a programme of presentations, and attend the Cans of the Year Awards gala dinner.
Christina Kerr, managing director of Sayers Publishing Group, said: “We’re disappointed to have to postpone again, but the Summit has an audience from around the world and with so many travel restrictions still in place, it’s unlikely that we could gather as an international group just two months from now. And for many of our delegates, the Summit would be part of an extended business trip or an opportunity for meetings with colleagues from other offices, none of which is possible right now.
“Test events have been taking place in some countries but these are mainly outdoors, or in exhibition halls, and they’re still subject to limits and restrictions. Networking is an important part of The Canmaker Summit and it wouldn’t be the same if we couldn’t do this freely.
“In the grand scheme of things, the Summit is an insignificant casualty in the wake of the pandemic, so we hope everyone stays well until we meet in 2022.”
Updates on the re-arranged event will follow. Cannex 2022, a trade exhibition and technical conference run by The Canmaker magazine, will take place in China in June 2022.
